Guys, We have reached the 150 days to go mark for my Reef Swim in St. Croix. I don't know about you but I am totally excited. I am in the process of making arrangements to secure a beach house for us to stay at while on the island. In order to get the very best place at the most affordable price we need to lock in a place in the near future. I have spoken or emailed with most of you about this and have gotten a few firm commitments. Since our group has the potential to be very large 10 or more people the number of homes that can accommodate us is limited and varies widely in price and amenities. Here is the breakdown that i have so far. Locked in for sure: 9 Vanessa & Dan DeAne & Joe (+ Olivia) Debbie & Dad Sebastian Ted & Janice Most likely: 1 Helen Maybe: 4 Atousa & Chris Erica & Sam Currently the largest group that could stay at 1 house would be 14 so if everyone comes we are at our limit. In order to get the best place I will have to set a cut off date for firm confirmations. Once we lock in who is committed I will need to get some money for our deposit then before we leave i will need the balance. Each house has different payment rules so the time line will vary. Currently I am targeting a per person per week cost of $600-$650. I will do my best to hold true, i will do my best to bring it in lower than that. Compared to the Buccaneer which runs $288 a night plus tax this is a great deal. I will be reserving the following days Oct 7th - Oct 14th. Ok the cut off to claim you spot will be Sunday May 23rd. Guys,

V and I have settled on our travel dates for St Croix.

Depart Oct 7th

Return Oct 14th

We will be staying at the Buccaneer.

I do know of a group trying to arrange to stay at a vacation home near by. there are a lot of good deals out there. If you are interested i can give you more info just let me know.

267 days to go....

I am officially entered as a competitor in the 2010 Coral Reef Swim. I submitted my registration yesterday. Now to book travel and accommodations. For those of you that are really wanting to go now is the time to start making arrangements, especially if you plan to fly using miles. So if you find any good deals please share with everyone. Once you are registered with this site you can log in and post comments to any of the articles.

I have been looking into the flights using miles and it looks like American has changed the required number of miles for travel on Oct. 7th and 8th. I think they did this because that will be Columbus Day weekend. Vanessa and I had planned on flying out on the 8th but I don't want to use twice the miles to do that. Right now I have reserved travel for Wednesday Oct 6th returning Oct 16th. I know that is a long time but there is no charge to change the travel dates when using miles so we can adjust it if needed.

The Buccaneer, the host hotel is currently running a special which is 20% off the rack rates. They have several levels of rooms and based on the number of race participants that they are expecting I am sure the more affordable rooms will be gone first. I will be making a room reservations soon so I will post more info as soon as I do that.
